Biodata

Miao Baoqing, 22 years old, currently pursuing a degree (Hons) in Applied Mathematics with minor in Economics at the National University of Singapore. Born in a small underprivileged village in China, I have always been striving hard and challenging myself in hope of a better life. As such, exploration of the vast world beyond my small village of origin has been crucial to me. So far, my path of exploration constitutes stepping out of a poor village to the urbanized cities and receiving a full scholarship in Singapore. Though a pure science student, I have numerous other interests, such as philosophy, social sciences, literature, arts and etc. Through my passion for traveling, I gained broader perspectives of this diversified world. I am an eager and quick learner. Courses in the university have equipped me with effective communication skills. Intensive training in mathematics has also fortified me with an instinctively analytical, critical and logical problem solving ability.

Hi Baoqing,

A very good post for your biodata. The words that you used (eg. diversified world, fortified etc) are concise and refreshing.

Some grammar problem that you wish to look at.

Eg.my paths of exploring up to now --> my path of exploration.

I am always willing to and enjoying learning new things and I can master them very fast.
--> I am passionate about learning new things.

I guess "willing and enjoying" is embedded in "Passionate"

Cheers,
Danny.

I can see your points clearly, but if you could link your points together, I think it will be better. In other words, weave your sentences into a story that is easy for the reader to follow and makes clear sense. Making your one main idea more obvious will help too.

Dear Baoqing

You've introduced yourself very well in this Biodata you've drafted. However, it seems to me that these relate more to your interests and activities. Perhaps you should balance it with a more specific goal or direction that you intend to take from here?

Best
Yilin

Hello Bao

I find your post has a personal touch as it talks about your background and ideologies. I also find it very visual, as you used many adjectives like "poor village" and "urbanized cities". Well done!

Hi Baoqing,
This is a very interesting and detailed post. You have included your interest and experiences in such a short paragraph. Great job! Maybe you can include you future direction or plan in it too. It will give the reader a clearer picture of you.

Hi Sharon,Yilin,Xiaotong,

Thanks for reading and commenting!

At first i was confused if the biodata shoule be linked to what specific goal that i wanted to achieve for my prospective career. That is why i purposely did not include the "Purpose statement"
I still need Brad to clarify this later

hi huiling,

Since i am a poor student who is making money from a parttime job, i could not travel to expensive places. So most of the time i just backpacked within China and you konw, China is huge!
I travelled to most places in China including Yunnan(where Shangrila lies),twice to Tibet(walking and hichhiking),silk road and so on. These are definitely among the best experiences in my life and will keep on inspiring me
